Losing Weight - Diets That Are Bad For You

Losing weight does not have to be the most difficult task that a person can take on in their life. Of course, many people find it is complicated by all of the fad diets that there are out there. Some instruct you to starve yourself, others say cut out all carbs, and others even say to eat nothing but meat. How confusing to the novice looking for advice! In this brief article, I hope that I can give you some helpful, practical advice to point you in the right direction.

Don't starve yourself

Starving yourself thin is one of the worst things that you can do to your body. By cutting out calories that the body needs to survive, you are forcing it to not only dip into the fat storage, but use a much quicker to metabolize source. Unfortunately, that quick source is your muscles. Once you start losing muscle mass your metabolism will also start to dip to lower levels, making you gain weight much quicker than before you went on the diet.

No carb diets can be equally dangerous

there is lot of hype around the no carb, eat steak all day diet. Unfortunately, most of it is just that, hype, and some stretching of the truth. Yes, people lose weight, but it is through a process known as ketosis that adds extra waste through the bloodstream and causes major stress on the kidneys. In addition, the all meat diet causes excess cholesterol, which could cause long-term heart disease.

Vegan diets

The largest problem that come with a vegan diet are the lack of complete protein in it. This is because there are a few essential amino acids that are only produced by animal meats, and cannot be duplicated by any plant proteins. These amino acids are needed by the body to produce new cells, especially nerve cells, which could cause long-term damage and disorders. It is not something that most people want to have.

What to do?

We know that we do not want to go with a starvation, high protein, or vegan diets, because of the issues that can arise from them. Instead, we want to look at a balance of these three, combining the best parts of each of them, making a great program that will melt away body fat. For example we will cut down to only what calories that we need, from the starvation diet, eat high quality low fat cuts of meat, from the low carb diet, and take in good low calorie vegetables from the vegan group. These three ideas combined will give you a diet that you can use to lose weight and retain muscle mass.
