Lower Your Cholesterol Without Medication

My doctor told me I had high cholesterol. She gave me a prescription for a therapist. That was more time and money, and what would she do? Probably tell me to exercise and go on a diet. I decided that I could do this myself. It worked! I started by walking every day. And, I began researching about diets to lower bad cholesterol. Fats must not be eliminated from your diet. You just need to eat healthy fats, which are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats actually lower your risk of heart disease.

Good fats are found in dried beans, lentils, walnuts, almonds, cashews, pumpkins seeds, avocados, olives, fatty fish; and oils such as olive, canola, and peanut oils. I myself have not tried Krill, however it is said to have a very high Omega 3 fatty acid (that is the good found in fatty fish). Like any supplement, please read the side effects. I have read that it has interactions with blood thinners and other medications.

Bad fats are saturated and trans fats. These are the killers that clog your arteries. These fats are found in red meat, poultry skin, high fat dairy, white bread and white rice. Avoid margarine, fried foods, cookies, potato chips, bakery goods and other packaged foods. Every day, I eat half of a cup of oatmeal for breakfast. Once it is hot, I add flaxseed oil. I change up flavor by adding cinnamon, berries, walnuts or soy protein powder. My lunches have changed to homemade sandwiches on whole grain bread, without mayonnaise. I have replaced my potato chips with an apple or a small salad.

Dinner is easy. Instead of good old fashioned chili, hamburger or steak; I now make a white chicken chili, grilled fish or tofu, salad and vegetables. You make think tofu is tasteless. However when you warm it up adding good herbs, garlic, red pepper and olive oil, you will be pleasantly surprised. Make your own dressing using olive oil, some herbs and red or balsamic vinegar. Have some guacamole on the side. A daily glass of wine or a beer is said to boost your good cholesterol. Red wine is supposed to be best.

Eat small meals and eat snacks in between. This will also boost your metabolism and help you to lose weight. I snack on apples, red berries, almonds or walnuts. Don't go overboard. Just a handful will do.

I drink at least one cup of honey and cinnamon tea daily. I use two tablespoons of organic honey and three teaspoons of cinnamon. Three cups a day are supposed to cure high cholesterol forever. Honey has been used for over a thousand years for many healing benefits.

What I thought was going to be an impossible change, has been easy for me. I quit drinking milk and eating cheese. Well, I do cheat with a small amount of low fat cheese at times. I have not missed red meat and french fries like I thought I would. My new good foods are satisfying and making me feel better. My acid reflux has disappeared. Take your life into your own hands. Do not medicate yourself until you have tried to naturally heal yourself. You will feel better, which will make you happier and healthier.

There are many healthy ways to treat and heal your body. If allowed, your body will naturally heal itself. I have researched and practiced alternative methods for years. I am not a doctor. I am a naturalist and a believer. I believe, because I have lived it.
