For people who already have heart disease, decreasing daily consumption of cholesterol to less than 200 milligrams is best. Decreasing the cholesterol consumption can be done by avoiding the foods with saturated fat or those foods that have substantial amounts of dietary cholesterol.

The second way to do this is to take a medication prescribed by a doctor that can lower the cholesterol level of the body. The appropriate medication is identified depending on a number of risk factors that may lead to heart disease. Continuous smoking and inactivity can also lead to heart disease. For people who have multiple risk factors and those people that have already been diagnosed with diabetes and heart disease, the only choice left for them is to follow the medication of the doctors.

If you do not want to have them, then the best thing to do is to change your day-to-day routine and lifestyle. This is because you should make a change to what you do for the sake of your help. Also, quitting smoking is a good idea. Most smokers have low HDL, but this is reversible by simply quitting smoking. In addition to these changes, you should also include exercise as part of your daily routine. This is a natural part of increasing the good cholesterol in the body. It is not a requirement to do extensive exercise, moderate-intensity exercises will do, especially if you do this on a daily basis to control your weight, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Most of the time, high cholesterol and heart disease are inherited genetically, so if you really want to know, it is best to consult a doctor now. HDL and LDL are determined with a simple blood test. Your doctor should assess your daily habits so that you can make adjustments and give you advice to become healthy and fit.
