What The Desirable Cholesterol Ratio Is For Optimal Cholesterol Levels And How You Can Achieve It

We all know how serious having high cholesterol can be, and that there is a strong link between high cholesterol and the current number one killer, heart disease. This makes knowing what the desirable cholesterol ratio is essential, to ensure you have maximum protection against this potentially fatal disease.

Now, your total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol ratio, is the number that is most helpful in predicting your risk of developing atherosclerosis, which is a build up of plaque in your arteries. You reach that number by dividing your total cholesterol by the value of your HDL cholesterol.

High ratios generally indicate a higher risk of heart attacks, while low ratios indicate a lower risk.

Your cholesterol ratio will be increased if you have high total cholesterol and low HDL levels. The desirable cholesterol ratio is where you have high HDL cholesterol and low total cholesterol levels.

An average cholesterol ratio would be roughly around 4.5. But to be honest, you really want those numbers to be better than average, if possible. Therefore, the most desirable cholesterol ratio would be 2, 3 or less than 4.

Another ratio you need to keep an eye on is LDL HDL. The LDL HDL ratio is actually a more relevant ratio than total cholesterol to HDL, because LDL tells you the amount of bad cholesterol and HDL tells you the amount of good, whereas total cholesterol is the sum of LDL, HDL and VLDL.

LDL HDL ratio is the more accurate cholesterol ratio, and the desirable cholesterol ratio for LDL HDL would be 3.3 - 4.4.

Achieving this cholesterol ratio is not as hard as you might think. The question is, which route will you take to achieve it, and what I mean by that is, will you look for the quick fix of taking cholesterol lowering prescription drugs like statins, or opt for the safest route of natural treatment.

Before you make that decision, let me give you some food for thought, and this comes from someone who was a previous high cholesterol sufferer, in the high risk category for heart disease.

Statins, while very effective at lowering LDL cholesterol, are of no real benefit to HDL levels. Plus, they have severe and dangerous side effects, some of which are potentially fatal. I know, because I have experienced some of them, and have spent a long time reversing the damage caused, after a lot of unnecessary suffering.

I achieved the desirable cholesterol ratio through natural means. And so can you. There are three simple steps to achieving outstanding cholesterol levels and brilliant heart health - diet, exercise and a natural cholesterol supplement.

I still enjoy my favourite foods, I just eat them in moderation now. And with regard to exercise, I get a walk or cycle in as often as I can. I will walk instead of drive where possible.

The right natural cholesterol supplement, with the right ingredients, will not only help you lower LDL and raise HDL, but it will balance your cholesterol levels perfectly to the most desirable cholesterol ratio. This is what gives you peace of mind where heart disease is concerned.
