Why is the South Beach Diet So Popular?

The Adkins diet is the grandfather of all low carb diets, it started the revolution over 30 years ago. The idea of cutting out carbohydrates seems pretty simple to day but in the 1960's it was pretty radical thinking and Dr. Adkins received quite a bit of ridicule for even suggesting this as a way to safely lose weight. Critics said that people could not live long term on this diet and would become malnourished after a short time. This has been proven wrong. They also said that a person's cholesterol level would go through the roof, the experts were wrong again.

A spin off of the Adkins diet that may be even more popular than the original low carb diet is the South Beach Diet. South Beach Diet program is divided into 3 phases. During Phase 1, the body is deprived glucose. Also, sodium intake is also reduced. During this stage, the body starts ketosis, ketosis decreases hunger, causing you to eat less.

At the start of phase 2 certain foods with carbohydrate content are allowed back into your diet. A few fruits are also added. During this time, you should see a steady 2-3 pounds of loss per week. You will stay in this phase until you reach your desired weight level. In the second phase, the food list for south beach diet is much more liberal and includes things such as rice, bread, potatoes, pasta.

Phase 3 is the maintenance phase of the diet and you must stay in this phase for the rest of your life. This phase is very liberal and most people would not have a problem with maintaining this part of the diet.

Any weight loss program can be enhanced and made to work better and faster. One great way to this is by using natural supplements. There is a new supplement that is proving itself to be a great discovery. It is Hoodia Gordonii. Hoodia works by suppressing the appetite. I have found it to be essential for anyone who is serious about losing weight and keeping it off...CONTINUE [best-wiki.com/about/hoodia-weight-loss/]
