Above average levels of LDL, HDL, triglyceride and cholesterol in the blood stream are certain indicators that there could be a cause for concern in regard to cholesterol levels and your doctor will monitor these levels carefully and make recommendations accordingly if abnormalities are found. The contents of a diet soda may include properties that could be potentially harmful to those who are attempting to lower their cholesterol levels. This low fat diet should be balanced, so if one meal is very light you can compensate during the next meal by including lean meat which could include sirloin steak, flank or rump and a selection of steamed vegetables.

Snacking between meals should be limited to fresh fruit or raw vegetables, carrots, celery etc. To avoid the temptation of snacking on calorie laden, high fat foods, it is a really good idea to have some prepared vegetables in the fridge, or to take with you when you are going out whether shopping or to work.

When the body is resting or sleeping very little energy is required, therefore, your last meal of the day should be light. You might like to consider some fresh fish, steamed or grilled, or possibly some pasta as long as the portion is moderate. Also a moderate intake of red wine is beneficial. One glass a day with the evening meal is acceptable.

You should be disciplined with your healthy eating low fat diet and ensure that wherever you are that you always take the low fat option, and this includes dining with friends in their homes, and when eating out in a restaurant. The advantages of this diet will only be felt if you are consistent and make sure that you adopt healthy eating habits wherever or whatever you are doing. Your aim is to lower your triglyceride and cholesterol levels and reap the benefits of a healthier body and a healthier life.
