Are Low Carb Diets Safe? Why Carbs Aren't Evil

Are low carb diets safe? This burning question has some startling answers for all you dieters out there. The key to understanding the pros and cons of carbohydrates is ultimately going to help you battle the bulge, but in a safe and realistic way.

I think we can all agree that foods that are traditionally HIGH in carbs are generally tasty and enjoyable to eat. This is because they are also high in sugars and starch. Take for example food made with ingredients such as flour, grains, or sugar (especially added/refined sugars), and most processed foods.

Generally speaking, when we talk about such carbs we think of food items like the following:

bread
pasta
potatoes
corn
fruit
desserts

However, I am here to tell you that NOT all carbs are BAD! In fact they are a very important source of energy and fuel for our brains. Unrefined carbs like brown rice or whole-grain bread are very beneficial for our health.

Why?

Because they are a rich source of B vitamins and essential dietary fibers. They help cleanse the colon, keep lower blood cholesterol levels, and help maintain a properly running digestive systems.

And we all know that keeping "regular" is essential to our health.

So let's tackle the question again: "are low carb diets safe?" Well, as a Health & Diet coach myself I will only tell you the truth: NO they aren't and they are NOT effective in the long run.

Here are some of the health RISKS of following a too low carb diet:

depleted energy
impaired central nervous system function
headaches
irritability
loss of sleep
not sustainable and hence will cause you to GAIN weight after the initial weight loss

Here's a little FYI: 87% of dieters FAIL with low carb diets because they just cannot be maintained for the long term. Research has shown that people who are "successful" are often those who smoke (which is most certainly NOT a healthy alternative to eating!), and for that their caloric intake is decreased on a daily basis.

You CAN however, learn about choosing the right HEALTHY carbs so that you can lose weight, but do it in a way that is effective and appropriate for your personal dietary needs. healthyweightlossjournal.com/are-low-carb-diets-safe Are low carb diets safe? In a nutshell, no, especially when they are eliminated fro your diet.

But... I feel that more and more people are starting to realize that fad diets just don't work.

Thank goodness!

Even the diet pill industry has seen a dramatic decrease in annual revenue in the last year. Dieters are sick of SCAMS, and are quickly realizing that the tools they need to be successful with their weight loss goals include a few key things:

A) A healthy, sustainable diet

B) An exercise program that is realistic

C) Support and motivation from someone who knows the facts

With these ABC's, anyone can achieve weight loss AND do it eating carbs. A low carb diet isn't safe in the long run, and if you take the health tips that are written by REAL people who know first-hand about real weight loss you'll be much more equipped for success.
