Fat Burning Diets - Eat Fat to Lose Fat

Fat burning diets are unique and not very similar to rapid weight loss diets. To burn fat, you have to eat fat...Why?

-Dietary fat is not stored in the fat cells but used by the liver to make ketons.

-Fat is the only energy that works as good as carbohydrates in your body

-Protein is a necessity for rebuilding your body, but eat too much protein and it turns in to fat.

-To store fat, we need raised levels of insulin. Carbohydrates is the only nutrient that increase the levels of insulin, thus storing more fat.

I often hear that our brain starves on a low-carb diet, this is simply not true. If you stop eating carbs your liver will produce enough glucose to run the brain. Every other energy consuming function in your body will turn into using ketons as fuel.

Another myth is that too much fat in your diet will give increased levels of cholesterol. This is under close investigation by scientists all over the globe. So far none have shown a relationship between dietary fat and high levels of cholesterol. Instead, some studies have indicated that an increase in cholesterol could very well be a symptom of stress.

"You have to burn more and eat less to lose weight!" This is not true. During World War II, people in concentration camps had a very strict low calorie diet of about 800 calories per day. The average weight loss was about 1 pound per month.

Studies that compare diets with a total of 1000 calories per day have shown that the cohort eating 1000 calories of fat lose the most weight.
