Your Low Carb Diet - 3 Reasons to Throw That Sucker Out the Window!

Many people have experienced quick weight loss by eating a low carb diet, but often they gain the weight back and then some. Why? Because they get to a point where they can't take the deprivation anymore. There is a lot that makes sense about the low carb diet-especially the part about cutting sugar out of your diet-but depriving yourself too much of carbs can leave you short on some things.

Fruits - Eating a variety of fruits is ideal for getting all the nutrients that they have to offer. If you stay away from nutritious fruits such as bananas or apples, which are high in carbohydrates, you are missing out on nutrients that can actually help with successful weight loss. Also, fruit can help satisfy your sweet tooth, keeping you away from foods made with refined sugar.
Beans and grains - Kidney beans, garbanzo beans, whole grains; these foods are high in fiber, high in nutrition, and high in carbohydrates. Cutting these foods out of your diet can not only hinder weight loss in the long run, it can also make you feel deprived after awhile, leading to carb bingeing.
Too much of the wrong fat - Though it seems that those on low-carb diets can sustain healthy cholesterol levels despite eating a lot of fat, they still tend to eat the wrong kinds of fats. Fats such as butter or heavy cream don't offer a lot nutritionally, but it's very tempting to eat a lot of them when you're allowed to.

The best way to get the most from eating low carb is to follow a modified version of the diet. Eat your nutritious high carb foods such as fruit, oatmeal, beans, and whole grain breads early in the day when you are more active so that you'll burn the quick-energy carbs more easily. Eat more protein, good fats such as olive and canola oils, and vegetables later in the day to cut down on nighttime snacking. Keep refined flours and sugars out of your diet altogether. Eating this way, you get the benefit of low carb eating without sacrificing nutrition.
