Well, if you have a problem with cholesterol levels, you may be wondering what foods to eat to lower cholesterol. And there are several. Of course, just as important as what foods to eat is what foods not to eat.
If you think the days of good tasting food is over for you, you're wrong. There are plenty of tasty foods that are good for you and will help lower your bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise your good cholesterol (HDL).
First of all if you are a person who strives on sweets, get real. You didn't think you could eat that way forever did you? You don't have to cut them out completely but back way off and when you do have a craving go for low fat or no fat.
If you eat a lot of read meat, shame on you. You can still have some, but not much. Eat more vegetables plain and simple. They will be good for you and they can be prepared in so many delicious ways. Work on it.
Cut back on a lot of dairy products and instead of butter or margarine on your bread, try an olive oil mix. You can purchase the mixes at the store and add the olive oil. And they are so good!
You need more grains and fiber in your diet. That means better whole grain breads, more oatmeal and cereals and don't forget to add some nuts to your diet if you haven't already done so.
Not to be forgotten is the fruit family. Take advantage of all the great fruits at your local store. Stock up on the fruits of the season like cantaloupe, oranges, apples, delicious peaches and bananas and such. Once you get used to eating the good stuff, good things happen to your cholesterol levels.
And that means you'll feel better about life and about your health as you get your cholesterol under control before your health starts to break down. You can do it. Don't think for a minute that you can't. After all, you are a winner!
