Keep the Pounds Off! Learn the Facts Behind Diets For Weight Loss

Detox diets for weight loss bring about healthy functioning of organs. Can this be true? I can't see why not. We eat vegetables that have been treated with chemicals, our meat, unless we buy organic, have antibiotics and hormones in them and we are exposed to pollutants in our environment. It would make sense to go on a detox diet wouldn't it? Most of the detox diets you are familiar with: the lemon and cayenne pepper concoction, the cabbage soup diet, etc. You can lose a lot of weight with this diet. But in actuality, if used for a prolonged period of time, you risk starving yourself, forcing the body to feed on itself. The body needs balance of protein, carbohydrates and vitamins to function properly.

The American Heart Association (AHA) does not recommend high-protein diets for weight loss. Although you can lose weight using a high protein diet, this diet for weight loss does not provide the nutrients your body needs o function properly. Excessive amounts of protein increase the risks for heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.

High-protein diets for weight loss, disease prevention, and enhanced athletic performance have been greatly publicized over recent years. Proponents of the high protein diet claim that since the body is mainly made up of proteins, we would do well by consuming a lot of it. That would be ok except we get most of our protein from animal fat, the kind of fat which is high in saturated fats. The body gets its energy for fats and proteins, but without the proper amount of carbohydrates the nervous system will not function properly

Why you shouldn't succumb to the temptation of fad diets for weight loss? Many fad diets sound good. Some sound too good to be true and they probably are. Fad diets are easy to believe because they give the truth but they are half-truths.

Get the facts about cleanse diets for weight loss. Cleanse diets are detox diets. There the juice cleanse diet, the lemon diet and the colon cleanse. These diets are supposed to rid your body of the toxins that have accumulated over time. You can lose weight with this diet but again, you are starving your body.

There are many commercially available liquid diets for weight loss and their acceptance depends upon the brand and its program. We accept them because they have been around for years and there is a track record of success. People have lost weight using these liquid diet plans. If you use these brands, it is best not to be on the diet for a long period of time.

There is much controversy and hype about the effectiveness of low-carbohydrate, high-protein, or low-fat diets for weight loss. You can lose weight with a low carbohydrate diet but it does not provide enough proteins needed to fuel the body. High protein diets also result in weight loss. The protein helps feed our muscles but the increase in saturated fats leads to an increase in cholesterol. A low fat diet does promote weight loss. Low fat does not mean NO FAT nor does it mean that because it's labeled low fat is it healthy. It could be high in sugar. Choose foods that are low in fat as well as low in sugar. The healthiest diet is one that is balanced.
