Do Low Carb Diets Really Work?

The most popular New Year's resolution made each year to so lose weight. It seems like everyone is unhappy with the way their body looks, and they want to shed pounds, get in shape, and over all just be a lot healthier in the way they live their lives. The two ways to do this are through exercise and dieting.

There is no right or wrong way to exercise, but what about diets? What works and what doesn't? There are many kinds of diets you can choose from. There's the kind where you order full meals that are prepackaged and ready to go. There's the diets where you drink shakes twice a day as meal substitutes. There are diets where you keep track of everything you eat, and diets where you just drink water (this water one is completely unhealthy. Don't do it! Your body needs food!). The most popular diet, though, is the low-to-no carb diet.

A low carb diet is one in which you limit the amount of carbohydrates that go into your body. A diet is actually a very low carb diet, as almost all foods contain at least some carbohydrates.

There are many diets which use the low to no carb methods. You can do research and find the many types and each of their stipulations. Some of them are more strict than others. But this article will tell you some of the benefits of low to no carb diets.

Low carb diets will effectively help you lose weight! The way your body works, when you decrease the amount of carbohydrates you consume, you also decrease your body's glucose levels. Without these new carbs to form glucose, your body will use stored carbs. When those are burned off, it'll then start using stored fat, causing you to lose weight and inches.

With low to no carb diets, while you might be limited on carb filled foods like bread and pasta, you are encouraged to eat some of the more fatty (and delicious!) foods like eggs, cheese, bacon and other proteins.

Many foods that are low in carbohydrates are high in fiber! Also, studies show that low carb dieting can actually decrease your risk of heart problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other heart attack risks.

So despite what nay-sayers might tell you, low to no carb diets are perfectly healthy and can help you lose weight. Just be sure to find the right amount of carbs for you, as every body is different.
