Maintaining Healthy Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Levels in the Body

Many people suffer from problems directly related to high blood pressure and cholesterol. This can be easily avoided with regular exercise, a healthy diet and avoiding excessive amounts of alcohol and salt. The reason many of us find it so hard to maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels in the body is because our entire lifestyle and routine can be part of the problem. Problems with blood pressure and cholesterol levels can be hereditary but they also seem to be increasing as so many of us follow a stressful lifestyle and rely on fast food. Even our leisure time seems to revolve around activities that require little movement and most of us have somewhat unhealthy habits whether we are aware of them or not.

Maintaining healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels in the body involves addressing the issues that can contribute to problems in this area and ensuring that we continue the effort to combat against the negative effects of unhealthy eating and the various other problems that can result in high blood pressure and cholesterol. Controlling our diet to the best of our abilities and including a variety of healthy foods whilst reducing the amounts of foods that include salt and saturated fats is essential as is stabilizing our weight to a healthy size and keeping it this way.

Eating a healthy and varied diet full of antioxidants, omega 3 acids, whole grain and low fat foods is important as is giving up smoking, reducing the alcohol intake, salt intake and fatty food intake. De-stressing at the end of a busy day is also important and the overall well being of the body should be taken into consideration. Discuss with your physician how you can aid your body in the healthiest way possible to maintain the healthy levels of cholesterol and blood pressure that you aspire to achieve and also consider the benefits of supplements which can control and regulate the blood pressure and the cholesterol. If you are unsure about the use of drugs or if the side effects of the supplements can affect another area of your life negatively, then it can be essential that you stick with the most natural route possible. This can be as easy as walking every day, eating fresh fruit, vegetables, lean meat and oily fish, not to mention that it is a much cheaper option than purchasing expensive dietary supplements.
