Creating an Effective Low Carbohydrate Vegetarian Diet Plan

Getting in shape is a trend that never goes away. When you are ready to acknowledge that you need to lose a few pounds, you may consider doing a low carbohydrate vegetarian diet. Different from other popular diets that actually have you consume unhealthy foods that contain fat and cholesterol - a low carbohydrate vegetarian is the healthier alternative. It may seem hard when you first start the diet, but know that the long-term result will make you healthier and slimmer as you change your eating habits and start incorporating the diet into your daily meals.

One of the first options that you have to choose when you first start is to select between eating a low carb vegetarian meal or a low carb vegan meal. If you're new to the vegetarian world, then going the low carb vegetarian meal route is the better option. You don't want to jump right away and go the vegan meal route way, as sometimes it can also be quite unhealthy.

Vegetarian foods, because of its limited nature, would mostly consist of pasta and bread. However, you are encouraged to find other foods that can supply your body the calories it needs - including proteins and solid nutrition. Look no further than the star of many vegetarian foods - the tofu. Tofu is characteristically high in protein - this is good to help you lose fat better than you lose your calories. In fact, tofu contains 10 times more protein calories than carbohydrate calories.

Tofu is a pleasure to cook as there are so many ways you can have them. For a quick cooking option, but one that never fails, try to stir fry it mixed with other vegetables. The result will be a great tasting tofu dish that is nutritious.

Other foods that you should have for your low carb diet vegetarian meal - apart from Tofu - are eggs and nuts. Another great source of protein and contain little carbohydrates; eggs should be on your every day menu. However, be aware that eggs do contain a high level of cholesterol. As for nuts, they also have high level of protein, but since they are rather high in fat as well, compared to other protein options, you should impose self control in consuming them.

Just because you're dieting it doesn't mean you should stop living and eating great foods. Search the Internet for many healthy and tasty vegetarian recipes, so you don't get bored eating the same meals every day.
