How to Turn Your Favorite Food Into a Healthy and Low Fat Package

Everybody has a craving for some "comfort foods" that take comfort in and eat them regularly. Unfortunately, not all of these comfort foods are healthy and fat free. Some of these foods such as burgers, cheese pizza, nachos and barbecue are high in fat content and will increase our body fat. People do realize that such food is not very healthy and will put extra pounds to their body. Even then, they desire eating them because of their food cravings and taste buds.

Here are some methods that will make your favorite comfort food less fat and yet still delicious.

Burgers

Beef burgers mostly are made of oil, beef and white bread bun with some sauce. These are all unhealthy elements that increase cholesterol and body fat. You can be creative and turn it into healthier food by adding a slightly cooked extra-lean ground beef. Then add some chopped onions and thawed frozen spinach to the burger. These two vegetables provide vitamins and moisture lost due to lean meat. Also, replace white bread with a whole-wheat bun to include some fiber. These modifications can reduce as much as 6 gm of unhealthy saturated fat.

Having Egg Biscuit and Sausage for Breakfast

Both sausage patty and egg biscuit are nothing but plain fat without any nutritional content. Instead, you should beat an egg in a small bowl and heat it for 2 to 3 minutes. You can then top it with warmed-up Canadian bacon. Put it in a whole-grain English muffin for extra fibers and nutrition. Spruce it with a glass of grapefruit juice as it helps lowers insulin levels and promote weight loss. This mod lowers fat content by 4 gm.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

This is also high on saturated fat with a typical serving containing around 18 g of saturated fat. Besides, the white bread give no nutrition but just add extra calories to your body. Thus, you should change the bread to whole-grain bread with lightly skimmed mozzarella in between. To lower fat content drastically, use olive oil. Top it up with some lean meat to increase protein your protein intake. This simple modification can cut off around 10 gm of fat.

Pizza

Pizza contains large quantities of simple carbs and saturated fat. However, there are many ways to turn pizza into something much healthier. First of all, choose a thin crust that has less cheese. Then, swap the pepperoni with chicken breast. This has much less fat and provides you with more protein. Top it up with some sliced onions and peppers. In this also, around 10 gm of saturated fat is eliminated from your pizza.

Try these diet modifications and after sometime you will notice your body weight is dropping. Though, they require some time and effort on your part but you will lose body fat naturally if you do this consistently.
