Why Low Fat Diets Don't Work - You Have Been Lied To! Find Out the Whole Truth About Low Fat Diets

Low fat diets are a very popular way to lose weight, but do they actually work? The main problem with this kind of diets is that they tend to replace fat with carbohydrates. Most calories come from toasts, cereal, bread, rice etc.

The thing is that losing weight is not a matter of mathematics, after all. Latest research suggests that it's not the number of calories that makes us fat, it's the type of calories.

The more simple carbohydrates you eat, the more your body will be unable to burn fat, and start storing it. The body needs carbohydrates of course, but not highly processed ones. Simple carbs tend to increase the sugar in our blood. Our body increases the production of the hormone insulin to keep blood sugar at desired levels. Insulin is the only hormone in the body that can reduce blood sugar.

During the millions of years of human evolution, it was normal for people to have trouble finding enough food. Up to one hundred and fifty years ago we were more likely to be hungry most of the day. So, it was common for people to have a very low blood sugar, which could be dangerous for survival. That's why the majority of the hormones in the body raise blood sugar. Of course now we live in the era of abundance, but the modern diet is contrary to our biological evolution.

When we eat foods that lead to insulin secretion, the results are:

Increased appetite. Insulin gives us the "order" to eat like there's no tomorrow.
The excess food is converted into fat to provide us with energy in the future.
The fat we already have gets "locked" and we can't burn it.

Our foods are high in calories and low in nutritional value. The high degree of processing and the addition of chemical additives give us foods that are very far from what the body needs to function normally. The results of this are all around us: Extra pounds, elevated cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, fatigue, poor metabolism, etc.

As you can see, dietary fats are not your enemy: Sugar and simple carbs are your enemies. What you need to do is to eat foods that have not been highly processed and have a low glycemic index. You can still eat carbs, but only complex ones like wholegrain breads, brown rice and beans.

This approach works and you will be able to lose weight without being hungry.
